The Apache Web Server

As of Lyris List Manager version 4.0, a special version of the Apache Web Server is also installed. If you have your own web server already installed on the same machine, you will have an opportunity to install the Lyris List Manager Web Interface on that web server, rather than Apache. In otherwords, Apache does not have to be your web server in order for the web interface to function.

The main advantage of using the Apache web server is speed. Using the mod_perl module, Apache can return your CGI requests on average 2-3 times faster than web servers that do not have mod_perl technology.
