Version 8.1
Major Features
ListManager API
ListMananger's SOAP-based API gives programmers the power to work with ListManager's data using the program of their choice. Programmers can download the SOAP toolkit for their language, point it to the ListManager WSDL, and start scripting— no knowledge of database query protocols is required.
ListMananger's API lets you:
Synchronize ListManager's data with other data sources
Integrate ListManager with other applications
Bypass the web interface, or create your own
Automate tasks
Programmatically create mailings and members
Integrated HTML Editor
Making content is easier than ever using ListManager's built-in HTML editor. Users may create sophisticated HTML messages without a separate HTML editor or HTML knowledge. Requires Windows Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.
Using ListManager's HTML editor, users can:
Link text or images to websites
Use tables for sophisticated formatting
Insert pictures and other graphical elements
Change the text size, appearance or font
Change the background
View the HTML source
Automated Complaint Handling
ListManager can automatically process complaints from AOL and other ISPs that use whitelists. When recipients click the spam button for a message, ListManager will automatically unsubscribe and ban them so they will never be readded.
Enhanced Password Security
All passwords are encrypted in the database and masked in the ListManager interface. Users who forget their passwords will be directed to create a new one. The password ListManager uses to connect to the database may be specified on startup so it is not saved unencrypted in lmcfg.txt.
Integrated EmailAdvisor (ListHosting customers only)
ListHosting customers can conduct EmailAdvisor audits directly from
ListManager. EmailAdvisor allows users to preview formatting in 40 email
clients, check likelihood for spam filtering and review inbox versus bulk
folder delivery status at major ISPs.
Minor Features and Changes
List names may be changed without deleting and recreating the list.
Prospective members may confirm by clicking a URL.
Segment builder now allows you to select multiple SKUs at a time when creating a segment based on purchases.
ListManager can use the date and time of the ListManager server. Previously, it used the time of the SQL server.
The automated message sent to confirm an unsubscribe may now be customized.
Choosing
dates in ListManager is easier with the new pop-up calendar
for every date selection field.
One-click URLs let members confirm membership or unsubscribe more easily.
Home
page load time may be reduced by disabling known complex report
calculations.
Charts may be configured to display just tests, just mailings, or all data.
Users of the MSDE database may enable a scheduled task to perform routine database maintenance.
The date used by ListManager is that of the ListManager server, not of the database server.
When a password is required as part of email submitted content, the password must be the first word in the message.
The user interface may be configured to time out after a set period of time, prompting the administrator to log in again.
