HTML Editor Introduction

The ListManager HTML editor allow users of Windows Internet Explorer to compose HTML messages with color, images, tables and more--without knowing any HTML. Simply click on the HTML toolbar buttons to format your message.

The HTML editor is available in the HTML section of content, templates and mailings. When creating content from a template, the HTML editor will be available for the HTML paragraphs of the content.

The HTML editor also includes a spell check utility (if installed by the administrator).

Note: The HTML editior will garble HTML code it does not create. Do not use the editor to edit code it has not generated.

What Web Browser Do I Need?

The ListManager HTML editor is currently available for users of Windows Internet Explorer. Users of Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, or other web browsers, or users of Internet Explorer with other operating systems will not see the HTML editor.

Can I Use the HTML Editor to Edit HTML Created by Another Editor?

We don't recommend you edit HTML you coded or created with another HTML editor with ListManager's HTML editor. ListManager's HTML editor will alter unsupported tags so the resulting HTML is unsatisfactory.

If you import an HTML file, ListManager will automatically disable the HTML editor. We do not recommend disabling the HTML editor, editing the HTML, and then reenabling the HTML editor.

Is the HTML Editor a Substitute for My HTML Program?

If your HTML needs are basic, the HTML editor will suit your needs. But if you need to do more complicated HTML coding, or would like to do something with your message that the HTML editor does not support, you may still need to create HTML content with an external HTML editor.

If you do use another HTML editor (or code your own HTML) DO NOT USE ListManager's HTML editor to change it! ListManager's HTML editor will likely break your HTML.

Can I Use Tracking URLs?

Yes. You may make all URLs tracking by clicking track all URLs or by setting Utilities: List Settings: Web Created Content: Automatically Track All URLs When Creating Content to Yes.

Can I Use Conditional Content?

Not at this time. The HTML editor cannot correctly interpret the coding used for conditional content or other TCL scripting.

Can It Be Disabled by Default?

Yes, it may be disabled by the site administator in Utilities: Administration: Sites: Edit Site: Essentials. It may also be disabled by default for individual list administrators in Members: Add Members: Add Member: List Admin: Enable WYSIWYG Editor.

If you create content using a web browser that cannot use the HTML editor, the HTML editor will be disabled by default when viewed by users who can.
