New features for ListManager 7.8

 

Surveys

New marketing tool for creating survey and questionnaire forms. These forms are created in the ListManager interface, and can then be embedded in your Web site or in the content of your mailings. The forms allow you to create multiple choice or open-ended questions. The results of your surveys can then be filtered and analyzed in the Reporting section.

New Outgoing Mail Queue

The outgoing mail queue has numerous performance enhancements. As of ListManager 7.8, you can send as many concurrent mailings as your hardware will allow. There is no job limit based on SQL connections or the ListManager application itself; hundreds of jobs can be sent at one time. This makes mailings faster and more robust, and they use less memory than previously.

 

In addition, there is more detailed reporting regarding mailings. Delivery reports are now time based, so they allow you to monitor your mailings as they progress. Reports show an instantaneous in-progress analysis of the mailing. For more details, see Mailings in Queue Statistics Table. More detailed member reporting is available as well, to see which members have received which mailings. You can also see per-recipient bounce and delivery statistics.

 

Individual mailing recipients are now assigned statuses while in the process of being sent a mailing. You can view Recipient Details and see the Sending Details for the mailing that went out to each recipient. In addition, any rejection messages associated with an individual recipient can be viewed and analyzed.

 

We recommend that you look at the detailed comparison of the new outgoing mail queue in 7.8, as it compares to previous versions of ListManager.

 

Pausing Mailings

Mailings can now be paused when they are running. Once a mailing is paused, it can be resumed or stopped completely. For more information, see Mailings: Mailing Status: View Outgoing Mailing: Mail Queue.

 

Charting Changes

ListManager's charts now have enhanced legends for fast analysis of your mailing and tracking results. The legends can be enabled to appear by default in Utilities: Administration: Server: Server Settings: Enable Features. Even if they do not appear with the charts by default, a legend can be opened for each chart by clicking the "?" on the chart page.

 

New Server Performance Chart

There is a new server performance chart, the "Server spending speed" chart, which reports instantaneous rates of successful, failed, and total mail sending, extrapolated to per hour rates. To access this see Reports: Server Performance.

 

Discussion Forum Interface

ListManager's Discussion Forum Interface now enables users with server-level permission to access all lists. For more information, see the Discussion Forum Interface.

 

New in 7.8b

 

Permission Groups

ListManager 7.8b has a new permissions feature, enabling administrators to allow or deny users access to individual pages of the ListManager interface. This is a URL based permission system. For more information on this, please see Utilities: Administration: Administrators: Permission Groups.
