You can test a message in one or both of two ways:
- Quick Test
Use this option when editing content to send the message to specific email addresses.
If the message body contains mail merge tags, enhancers, or conditional content, you can also send multiple messages using random test data from your list. You might want to do this, for example, to see how your mail merge fields and dynamic content will appear to different recipients.
Lyris will not send the test messages to your contacts, it will simply use the contact's profile data and send the messages to the addresses you specify.

- Proof Message
Use this option when testing the message to send the message to your proof contacts. This option gives a more accurate result than a Quick Test because it uses your proof recipients' actual data instead of random test data.

You can also generate EmailAdvisor reports, which provide information about message deliverability.
Use the Test & Proof page to send proof messages and generate Email Test reports.
To open the Test & Proof page, do one of the following:
- At the top of any message creation page, click 3. Test & Proof.
- On the Edit Message page, click .

The Recipient(s) dialog opens.
4. Optionally, to send test messages using random data from your list, select the Send checkbox and specify the number of test messages to send.
Note: This option is available only if the message body contains mail merge tags, enhancers, or conditional content.
5. Click .
The test messages are sent to the addresses you specify in the Recipient(s) dialog.
1. On the Test & Proof page, select the Send Proof tab.
The Proof Contacts list opens, showing all existing proof contacts.
2. To send the proof message to a contact who doesn't appear in the Proof Contacts list:
2a. Type the contact's email address in the Add Proof Contact field.
2b. Press Return.
Note: When you add a proof contact, that contact will be designated as a proof contact for all messages, not only the current message. For more information about proof contacts, see About Proof Contacts.
3. Do one of the following:
- To send the message to individual Proof Contacts, select the contact's checkbox.
- To send the message to all Proof Contacts, select the Proof Contacts checkbox.
4. Click .
The message is sent to the proof contacts you selected.
Note that Email Test reports can take a while to generate. You might want to continue with other tasks while the reports run.

2. Click the report you want to see.
1. On the Navigation bar, click Email Marketing then Email Test Overview.
The Email Test Overview page opens.
2. Select the message you want from the table at the bottom of the page.
3. In the Available Reports section, click the report you want to see.
The report opens.
