Utilities: Web Forms: Surveys

Survey forms can be created, edited, and updated on your Web site. When the survey form is saved, the HTML created here can then be embedded onto your Web site, for members to take part in the survey directly. Note that the HTML created here can (and most likely should) then be edited before putting on your Web site; for instance, to include your own graphics (i.e. .gif's for buttons).

It is also possible to insert references to "please take our survey" into your mailing content by going to Content: Insert URL: Survey.

How Do Surveys Work?

The general process for creating and using survey forms is as follows:

1. Go to Utilities: Web Forms: Surveys: New Survey: Basics. Create the survey form itself here. This is where you create survey questions. Once the survey form is saved, it automatically generates the HTML which can then be inserted into your content.

2. Create the content for your mailing. When creating the text or HTML for the content, the HTML for survey form can be inserted directly into the content, by clicking the insert url button on the HTML Message tab when creating new content.

3. From here, go to the survey tab, where the HTML survey form you created earlier, will be available from the drop-down menu. In addition, the clickable text which will be sent in the email message can be adjusted here. The default is "Take our survey", but can be changed to any relevant text. Click the insert button to insert the survey HTML into the content.

3. Note that once this HTML is inserted, it can then be edited or altered. This may be the case if you want to add particular .gifs to this survey, or if it is to be specific to this content.

4. Create your mailing as usual. When you click import content from the Mailings: New Mailing: Message page, the content with the survey HTML will be available here. This is another opportunity to edit the HTML of the message; for instance, if this survey is to be specific to this mailing.

5. When the mailing is sent, the link to take the survey will be in the message. Recipients can click on this link, which will open a new page where survey responses can be taken. When the recipient saves the survey, it will immediately be available for analysis.

6. To view survey results, go to Reports: Surveys. From here, survey results, responses, and answers to a single question can be accessed. In addition, individual member responses can be accessed from the Utilities: Members: Member History page.

Finding Survey Forms

From the drop-down menu, select List, Site, or Server survey forms. Note that the options available here will depend on the access level of the logged in user. Server administrators can see server, site, and list survey forms. Site administrators can see site and list survey forms. List administrators can see survey forms for the lists administered by them. The list or site to which the survey applies is displayed next to the survey form description.

Ten survey forms for the list are displayed. To view more than ten at a time, click show more. Repeatedly clicking show more will show greater numbers of survey forms at a time. Click next to see the next ten, previous to see the last ten.

You may change the sorting order of the survey forms by clicking the up or down triangles next to Title and Description. By clicking the top arrow, the sort order will be ascending (a-z); clicking the bottom arrow makes the sort order descending (z-a).

Viewing or Editing Existing Survey Forms

To view a survey form, click on the survey form title. You will be taken to the Utilities: Web Forms: Surveys: Edit Survey page, where you can preview or edit the survey form.

Copying Survey Forms

Click "copy" next to the survey form you'd like to copy. ListManager will show you the old title and description, and will ask for the new title and description. To copy this survey form to another list, select another list from the "New list" drop-down menu. In this way, the survey form can be copied and applied to multiple lists. Note that this option is not available for site or server level forms, only list level forms.

Click copy to save the copied survey form. It will then appear on the main survey list.

Deleting Survey Forms

Click "delete" next to the survey form you'd like to remove. ListManager will ask you if you're sure before deleting the form.

Creating New Surveys

To create a new survey, click the create new button. This will take you to the Utilities: Web Forms: Surveys: New Survey: Basics page.
