Important Upgrade Information

The ListManager installer makes upgrading easy! Simply select upgrade when prompted. However, there are some steps you should take before upgrading to prepare yourself. Please review this page before upgrading ListManager.

WARNING: Please backup your database and test before upgrading. If you encounter a problem while upgrading, you may not be able to recover your data without a backup.

Upgrading and Your Database Server

ListManager's database structure has been optimized to be more scalable. These changes will make mailing speeds on database servers with sufficient hardware faster than ever.

However, underpowered database servers may have performance problems. See our Requirements and Recommendations page before upgrading to 7.8 or later versions to determine whether your database server meets the requirements before upgrading ListManager.

Oracle 8i

Oracle 9i has shown dramatically better performance as opposed to Oracle 8i when sending to large lists (over one million members).

If you are using Oracle 8i, we recommend you upgrade your database to Oracle 9i if you have lists over a million members. If you cannot upgrade your Oracle database, we do not recommend upgrading ListManager.

PostgreSQL

Earlier versions of ListManager supported PostgreSQL 7.1.3 only. To upgrade ListManager, you will need to upgrade your version of PostgreSQL to 7.3.2 in order to have ListManager run properly. See PostgreSQL and ListManager for more information.
