How much bandwidth do you need?
The amount of bandwidth you need is directly related to the version of ListManager you have licensed, the number of lists you have, the number of members on those lists, how often messages are sent out, and how large those messages are. With so many variables, you can see it's not such an easy question!
Let's consider bandwidth needs in relation to the license you have or are considering purchasing. For all cases, the baseline case is considered to be a 4 KB message.
Platinum and Below
The Platinum edition of ListManager is capable of sending 10,000 messages per hour. The bandwidth required for this is approximately 125 Kbps (Kilobits per second). A cable modem can upload at 128Kbps, so that would be sufficient.
Platinum Plus
The Platinum Plus level license has an enhanced mail-sending engine, capable of sending approximately 100,000+ messages per hour. The bandwidth required for this is approximately 1Mbps (Megabits per second). Since a T1 can upload at approximately 1.5 Mbps, a single T1 line would be adequate.
Diamond
The Diamond level license increases the ability of Platinum Plus and provides capability of approximately 200,000+ messages per hour. The bandwidth required for this is approximately 2Mbps, or 2 T1’s or their equivalent.
Extreme
The Extreme level license has a very powerful mail-sending engine, capable of sending 300,000+ messages per hour. This requires roughly three times the bandwidth required by the Platinum Plus version, or 3Mbps. Thus, two T1's may be able to handle this load, but they would be very stressed. It would be better to have three T1's in place (4.5 Mbps), or a single T3 (10 Mbps) connection.
