Selecting a Template

A template is the starting point for any message. A template provides a structure for your message, such as the page layout and background color.

To select a template and create a message

1. On the Navigation bar, click Email Marketing then Messages.

The Messages page opens, displaying a list of all existing messages.

2. Click Add Message.

The Select Template page opens.

3. In Message Name, type a name for the message.

The name is for your use, your recipients will not see it.

4. In Message Type, select Multipart HTML to create both an HTML and text versions, or Text Only to create only the text version.

Tip: We recommend that you create both versions. You should create a text only message if any recipients specifically requested to receive only text messages. If you have such recipients, create a segment for them and create text only messages specifically for that segment.

5. If you want to edit the message without the help of the Visual Editor, select the Disable Visual Editor checkbox.

Tip: The Visual Editor automatically corrects errors in your code. Disable the Visual Editor if you want to use only the Code Editor for this message. Learn more about the Visual Editor.

6. In the template list, select the template you want to use.

The selected template is highlighted.

Tip: To start a message from scratch, select the Blank template.

To see more templates, click Back orForward. To display more templates on the page, click More Templates, to display fewer templates on the page, click Fewer Templates.
